What happens if Kauri shuts down?

Your archive keeps working. It runs in any modern browser, requires no internet, and depends on no Kauri-hosted infrastructure. The format is open and versioned. That's a design constraint, not a marketing claim.
Will the archive still work in 10 years?

That's the design target. The archive uses static HTML, plain CSS, vanilla JavaScript, embedded SQLite, and plain files for attachments — no framework runtimes that go obsolete. As long as a browser exists, the archive remains accessible.
How does this handle compliance and audit?

Every archive includes a SHA-256 manifest covering every file, plus optional Ed25519 signing for cryptographic chain-of-custody. A bundled verify tool re-hashes the archive and reports discrepancies. Kauri does not itself guarantee regulatory compliance — that remains your organization's responsibility — but it gives your auditors verifiable properties to work with.
Does my data ever touch Kauri's servers?

Extraction runs locally on your machine. We never ask you to transmit a raw API key. If you choose hosted archive retention later, that's optional and explicit — the default product is fully local, end-to-end.
